    How to Assemble the Layette?

Putting together your dream layette can be a more complicated task than you think! The mother's desire is to buy everything she sees ahead of her, but not everything you buy is really necessary! Assembling the layette deserves special attention to every detail, especially the size of the clothes and also the material they are made of, which varies according to the season when the child will be born.

Many women overdo it when buying layette items, mainly considering all the gifts they receive from family and friends throughout pregnancy and after the baby is born. This results in an unreasonable amount of clothes, shoes, and accessories that go unused. Since babies grow very quickly, they often outgrow things before using them even once. For this reason, it is recommended that during the baby layette preparation, you provide just a few pieces of clothing, especially for newborns. You don't know the exact size your baby will be born. Just a few rompers, bodysuits, socks and footed pants are needed—no need for excess.

Diapers are usually received at the baby shower and are not necessarily part of the layette. When requesting sizes on the invitation, remember that diaper sizes RN and P are rarely used, as babies gain weight quickly. It is recommended to give preference to sizes M and G, which will be used for a longer time and are definitely worth stocking up on, especially if you find good flash promotions.

Blankets and crib linen sets also do not require stocking up—just a few units are enough for changing and keeping the baby in a crib that is always clean and hygienic. Two shawls and blankets of each are the perfect amounts, as they are only used when going out or on milder days. Crib bumpers are needed, not only to make the crib more beautiful and cozy but also to protect your baby when they start rolling, moving, and getting around during restless nights. This way, you prevent the baby from hitting the crib walls and getting hurt.

An essential aspect of the baby layette is hygiene. Bathtub, changing pad, and bath towels are indispensable choices. Also include the necessary items for the time, such as shampoo, soap, cotton swabs, cotton, 70% alcohol, diaper rash ointment, and baby nail scissors. These items do not need and should not be stocked up on, given their expiration dates and long durability, especially for newborns.

The best tip is to make a needs list for the baby layette. Some children's stores provide lists to help parents, but it's not recommended to buy absolutely everything listed. Check what you already have, what is missing, and what you truly think is important. Asking the opinion of someone who already has a baby at home about products, strollers, and other baby accessories is also a way to help limit unnecessary expenses, as at this time it is very tempting to act on impulse and on the appeal of the products on sale.

Another tip for those who want to have more children in the future and would like to reuse the layette is not to invest in specific colors for girls or boys. Opting for neutral colors that can be used by both sexes is smarter. There are strollers, crib bumpers, and thousands of gorgeous unisex newborn clothes just like all baby things. Never forget the baby car seat, which is extremely important not only for carrying the baby but also for transporting them safely in the car. For parents who like to prepare the layette in advance and already buy what will be needed in a few months, a highchair should be on the baby layette list. It's with it that you'll start your baby's first solid foods, safely and comfortably for both of you.
