The Belly is the Center of Attention During Pregnancy

Nothing signals pregnancy to others like a growing belly. Even for the woman herself, it is a constant focus of attention and a point of reference. After all, it is where new life is created. Such importance brings body adaptations to its current conditions and generates concerns about both the well-being of mother and baby and also beauty.

The gestational period is a time of total transformation in the female body, just by the growth of the belly, which stretches enough to carry a baby of any size. The breasts will double in size and the whole body during pregnancy will go through this total, inevitable transition. It's natural for the area around nipples and areolas to darken and grow already at the beginning of pregnancy, as part of the body's preparation for breastfeeding.

The growth of the belly during pregnancy is one of the most anticipated symptoms. The excitement of seeing it get bigger each day happens to all women. But the not-so-welcome stretch marks coincide with this growth. The best way to control them is through diet and the use of almond oil and grape seed oil to keep the skin hydrated. With food, the healthier your diet, the more controlled your weight gain will be, which typically doesn’t exceed 8 to 12 kilos throughout pregnancy.

In the second trimester, the hip area can go through even more changes. In addition to stretch marks, cellulite often appears. This symptom is also natural and occurs due to increased fluid retention in the pregnant woman’s body. Anti-cellulite creams are not recommended during pregnancy. Therefore, treatment should be done after the baby is born, but even so, pregnant women can help reduce their appearance by drinking plenty of fluids like fruit juices and water. A few weekly lymphatic drainage sessions can help solve the problem.

Legs also deserve special care, especially in hotter places or seasons during the second trimester. Due to the weight of the belly, blood vessels become compressed causing swelling of the legs and feet. The solution is to elevate your feet several times a day to improve circulation and reduce swelling. At night, sleeping with a pillow under your legs is also recommended, as well as reducing sodium, which further increases swelling due to fluid retention.

Feet that are swollen may also go through another change. Due to the relaxation of the ligaments in the area, it is common to notice that your feet have gotten bigger. So, don't be surprised if your shoe size increases after pregnancy.
