Due to the production of the pregnancy hormone HCG, progesterone levels increase, which also raises the oiliness of the scalp. This results in shinier and much softer hair. At the same time, it is common during pregnancy to see women with straight hair developing waves and curly hair becoming less curly. Changes in strand thickness, volume, and even hair growth are natural and may accelerate during pregnancy.

Pregnant women with oily hair should use appropriate shampoos to control it. In cases of dryness, make the most of hydration, preferably with natural products. You can enjoy the period of silky hair, as after childbirth it is natural for hair to start falling out, a problem that can be helped by taking vitamins and proteins as recommended by a doctor to reduce hair loss.

During pregnancy, hair dyes and chemical treatments are not recommended, especially those containing ammonia. This substance can be harmful to fetal development. Toning shampoos and natural products are recommended to straighten hair during pregnancy, using a hairdryer and flat iron.

The face, in turn, undergoes just as many changes as the hair. Oily skin can become dull and dry. Women who normally suffer from dry skin might experience excess oiliness. During pregnancy, spots and pimples commonly appear on the face due to the increase in progesterone, which, just like on the scalp, makes facial skin oilier. A tip to remove oiliness from the skin is to wash your face with rice water.

During the first trimester, women often look pale due to pregnancy discomforts, nausea, and insomnia, which result in dark circles and paleness. With a few makeup tricks, you can conceal this. Makeup is allowed during pregnancy, so just enjoy using foundation, blush, gloss, and a good mascara to boost your self-esteem.

Sunscreen is also recommended for the face, even to make sure the pregnancy spots do not get even darker, and should be used even on cloudy days. Nowadays, you can find foundations with added sunscreen, which is a great combination. Another way to help keep your skin healthy is to use natural or hypoallergenic moisturizers on your face, reducing the risk of allergic reactions.
