They spend 9 months inside the womb, protected and immune from everything that could harm them in the world. When they are born, a new story begins and the need for certain newborn care becomes essential. These are what provide better health for the baby and more peaceful nights for their parents.
Newborn Care
During pregnancy, the baby is protected by the womb from contracting certain infections. After birth, they need special care to ensure good health and better development. Hygiene must be maintained thoroughly and feeding times followed strictly. These are the types of care that will offer a healthy life to this new life.

One of the biggest concerns, especially for first-time mothers, is with the baby's cry and how to identify the reason. Babies cry for many reasons, such as hunger, heat, cold, a wet diaper, an uncomfortable position or colic, and also due to stress which makes them unsettled. This is their only way of communicating. Only with time is it possible to identify and recognize the reason behind each newborn's cry.
Another important care for your baby relates to feeding. Even knowing that breastfeeding should be exclusive until six months old, many mothers wonder if they can offer water or teas to relieve colic. The answer is no! Exclusive breastfeeding serves to nourish, quench thirst, and hydrate the baby. As for teas, most contain stimulants that end up making them even more agitated, especially if sugar is added. A good option is to use baby lullabies, which will help in this moment of relaxation, providing more calmness.
Colic brings fear as well as sleepless nights for parents. This discomfort is completely common, especially in the first weeks of life. It is part of the process of the baby's digestive system maturing. Therefore, no medication or natural products are recommended to relieve it. The best way to bring relief is to warm the tummy, lay the baby belly-to-chest, and cuddle them.
And what about poop? Is it normal for them to go so often and for it to be so yellow? Many parents are startled when they see the diaper full of very pasty and yellow poop. The first thought is whether the baby has diarrhea. Since babies feed only on breast milk, it is natural for them to poop after every feeding and this does not require special care. This happens mainly in the first few days. If your baby spends more time without dirtying a diaper, don’t worry. It is normal for newborns not to poop for up to two days, which occurs more in those who are formula-fed.
There are so many doubts about newborn care that it's impossible for parents to feel 100% confident at all times. Right in the first days after birth, parents are already eager to introduce their baby to the world. However, they should avoid very enclosed spaces and places with many people, since the baby's immunity is still very low and even a simple cold or any other infection can be very dangerous. Visits and relatives are welcome and can hold the baby, as long as they wash their hands before picking them up and avoid kissing the baby. Besides the skin being very sensitive and prone to irritation, it is good to avoid contact with possible viruses and bacteria. People who are coughing or sneezing should postpone their visit until they have recovered.
At bedtime, each family creates its own routine and way for the baby to have a peaceful night's sleep. Some, after feeding and a diaper change, are able to fall asleep on their own, while others, because of their parents' habits, end up needing to be rocked in their arms until they fall asleep.
For the baby's room, in warmer places the use of mosquito nets and electronic repellents is recommended, as well as liquid repellent made specifically for babies. Besides the inconvenience of insects, bites can cause allergic reactions. Inside the crib, the fewer objects and toys, the better, as this will avoid the risk of suffocation and accumulation of dust and bacteria.
