Pregnancy Pains
It is very common for women to complain about various types of pain during pregnancy. Most of them occur due to major changes in the body during this period. Many pregnancy pains can also arise as a result of health problems that may appear throughout the gestational phase.
  • Pains All Over the Body

It seems logical that a pregnant woman would feel discomfort in her belly or back after her belly grows. But several other areas of the female body can be affected by pain during pregnancy—even those you would never imagine. After all, pregnancy is a unique experience where the entire body ends up paying the price.

Headache is one of the symptoms that can appear as early as the beginning of pregnancy, due to significant hormonal fluctuations. It can also be a result of the stressful daily routine of modern women and a response to dietary changes, especially the reduction in caffeine. Another more concerning reason for this pain is that when accompanied by neck pain and blurred vision, it may be a sign of high blood pressure.

Due to low immunity at this time, common pains during pregnancy inevitably arise, such as sore throat. In this new stage, women are more prone to contracting bacterial and viral diseases and unfortunately do not have many medication options to treat them at this stage. Only a few antibiotics are recommended for pregnant women, and they should only be used under medical advice.

Another very common symptom is body pain during pregnancy, and one of them is back pain, which is one of the inevitable discomforts in this period. The weight gain of the uterus along with the overall weight gain at this time produces effects on the back, totally changing posture. Since the ligaments and joints are even more fragile during pregnancy, any effort will cause pain to appear—this is why it is considered one of the normal pains of pregnancy.

Stomach pain is also one of the common pains in pregnancy, as during this period the production of digestive enzymes and acids responsible for food digestion increases considerably, in addition to the growth of the uterus that ends up compressing other organs like the stomach, causing heartburn, acid reflux, and pains during pregnancy.

Another symptom that occurs due to the large increase in the uterus, and consequently the belly, and the stretching of the skin it comprises, is navel pain. As the abdominal area grows a lot and quickly, the ligament connected to the navel is affected, causing slight discomfort and pain during pregnancy in the final stages. If it occurs in the first trimester, the pain may be related to excess intestinal gas, which can be resolved by reducing the intake of foods that cause it.

The entire body adapts to the growth of the fetus, making pains during pregnancy normal. Throughout the entire gestational period, the body produces a hormone known as relaxin, which gives elasticity to the pelvic ligaments and other joints of the body to facilitate the baby's passage during childbirth. Due to the increase in this hormone and the fact that the entire muscular system undergoes changes, the pelvic ligaments and muscles become more strained, which causes pain in the hips and groin.

Other areas also affected due to the increase in hormones and the significant rise in body weight are the lower limbs. Due to the heavy overload, the cardiovascular system is affected, causing swelling and pain in the legs and feet, which brings a lot of discomfort especially in the third trimester of pregnancy.

Some pregnancy pains will be inevitable but temporary, and to have a calm and healthy pregnancy, it is recommended to drink plenty of fluids, rest a lot, eat healthily, and do lighter physical exercises.
