14 Weeks Pregnant
Your 14th week begins

- Development the umbilical cord is already formed and is responsible for carrying nutrients and oxygen to the baby.
- To-do watch your diet! Anemia is one of the biggest villains in pregnancy. Eat foods rich in iron and other nutrients.
- 14 weeks is how many months? 14 weeks of pregnancy is 4 months. At week 14 of pregnancy, you are in the second week of the 4th month of your pregnancy.
IMPORTANT: pregnancy is not an illness!! A woman should take care of herself, go out, and enjoy life! Of course, some extra care is necessary, but if there is no medical recommendation for bedrest, the mother-to-be can even travel by plane, preferably up to the 8th month of pregnancy.
IMPORTANT: after a large outbreak of Zika virus cases, many women became more concerned about protecting themselves with repellents. However, not all repellents can be used during pregnancy because of their ingredients. The most recommended at this stage are IR3535 and Icaridin.
- Reaching the 14th week of pregnancy, the fetus is already fully formed, but still very small. It may measure around 8.7 cm and weigh about 93 grams.
- The hair appeared in previous weeks, and now there is a thin layer of hair forming the eyebrows and a fine down covering the whole body.
- The sexual organs are well defined and it is already possible to see if it is a boy or a girl through ultrasound. The 14th week of pregnancy is also the deadline for the first trimester morphology scan.
- The mom’s silhouette starts to change and the waist disappears as the belly rounds out. It’s important to choose comfortable clothes, looser shirts, and less tight pants.
- It’s very likely that your jeans will start to be left aside in the wardrobe since they squeeze your belly. If you like wearing jeans, there are some options that are appropriate for pregnant women.

More information about 14 Weeks Pregnant
Reaching the 14th week of pregnancy, the fetus is already fully formed, but still very small. It may measure around 8.7 cm and weigh about 93 grams. Now is the time to gain weight and grow rapidly, becoming more and more like the little baby you will hold in your arms after birth each week.
Baby’s Development
At 14 weeks of pregnancy, the fingernails and toenails appear, and even the baby already has its unique fingerprint1. Because hair appeared in previous weeks, the baby now has a fine layer of hair forming the eyebrows and a fine down covering the whole body. The face is already formed, with eyes and nose in the right place, and the baby starts making faces, wrinkling its brow and mouth to express itself.
At this stage, the umbilical cord is already well developed and is responsible for nourishing and bringing oxygen2, ensuring your baby develops, grows and gains weight rapidly. At 14 weeks, the sexual organs are well defined and you can see on ultrasound if it’s a boy or girl. The 14th week of pregnancy is also the deadline for the first trimester morphology scan, which is so important during prenatal care. So if you want to do it, speak to your doctor to have the referral issued.
How the Mom is Feeling…
At 14 weeks pregnant, your silhouette begins to change and your waist disappears as your belly rounds out, becoming increasingly apparent. If you haven’t already gotten more comfortable bras and panties, now might be the time, as tight clothing is not a great choice at this stage. Opt for comfortable clothes, looser shirts, and less tight pants. It’s quite likely that your jeans will start to be left aside in the wardrobe as they squeeze your belly. If you like wearing jeans, there are some options made for pregnant women with elastic at the waistband. They’re great because you can keep up with the growth of your belly and use them right up to the day of delivery with ease.
Care for Mom
If you use hair dyes or chemical treatments, it’s best to check with your obstetrician to see what is and isn’t recommended during this period3. It’s better to err on the side of caution than to have problems because of lack of care, right?
Speaking of care, take the opportunity to slather creams all over your body, especially on your belly and breasts. Look for good creams recommended by a dermatologist or friends. Starting at 14 weeks it’s also good to avoid high heels, as they can worsen swelling in your feet and legs and may cause falls, which are not desirable.
External Factors…
Your sensitivity is at its peak in the 14th week of pregnancy, and you see the world with new eyes and a bit more caution. Every move is done while thinking of the future, your greatest treasure, and what awaits you. Dreams, plans, and lots of details race through your mind like a film, and the anxious wait to experience it all is wonderful—enjoy every minute!
