How the mom is feeling
At 19 weeks pregnant, the mom can now start to feel the weight of her baby bump, a result of the baby, amniotic fluid, and placenta coming together. The baby is starting to feel heavier, and for some women, feeling that weight becomes very clear. For first-time moms, it feels like having 100 butterflies fluttering inside your belly! It’s very subtle at first, but from now on the movements get stronger and much more noticeable to your hand and senses.
For some people, 19 weeks may seem like little, but at this stage sleeping already starts to get uncomfortable. Certain positions can help you sleep better. Lying on your side (preferably left side) with a pillow between your knees helps your body stay aligned and is much more comfortable for your back too.
Mom’s life
If your sex life cooled down in the first trimester due to nausea and discomfort, now is the time to get back to it. Your sexual desire will be in full swing, so enjoy this moment! At 19 weeks pregnant, it’s common for the curious linea nigra to start appearing3, and along with it, the nipples begin to darken.
At 19 weeks, it is quite common to feel a bit tired, and to notice some pain in the lower part of your belly. This happens because the ligaments of the uterus are stretching more each week as your baby grows. Rest is essential! Allow yourself to lie down at least once a day, even if you have a work schedule to keep. Know that this moment is unique and should be cherished with all the serenity possible, even if you work outside the home.
External factors
Your baby bump at 19 weeks is more visible and rounder with each day. Your energy may be a bit low, but don’t give in! Do physical activities even if only for short periods and at your own pace. If you haven’t yet felt your baby move, get ready because this wonderful sensation is getting closer each day! Prepare your heart for such a joyful experience!
