25 Weeks Pregnant
Your 25th week begins
- Development Your baby is fully formed. Now they are gaining weight rapidly.
- Appointments Take your vaccination record to your OB-GYN. Sometimes a booster is needed before delivery.
- 25 weeks is how many months? 25 weeks pregnant is 6 months. With week 25 of pregnancy, you are in the fourth week of month 6 of your pregnancy.
IMPORTANT: How is the couple’s sex life? Sex during pregnancy is considered healthy for couples. It should only be avoided if the pregnancy is high-risk and your doctor advises against sex for a period.
IMPORTANT: Have you checked if you need any vaccines? During pregnancy, some vaccines are needed to prevent certain problems, such as the tetanus vaccine. Take your vaccination record to your OB-GYN for guidance.
IMPORTANT: How are your nights of sleep? In this phase, some pregnant women experience anxiety and end up losing sleep, thinking about every detail of what needs to be done. Try to calm down, relax, and sleep as much as you can, because you’ll miss it later.
- At 25 weeks pregnant, your beloved baby weighs about 660 grams and measures about 34.6 cm. Yes, they grow a lot every day, gaining about 30 to 50 grams per day!
- Now you can feel them moving so frequently, their fetal development is obvious even for dad!
- It’s possible to see the little one on ultrasound touching their own face, sucking their fingers, and even holding their little feet.
- Apply a lot of cream to your breasts as well, but avoid the nipples. These should be prepared for breastfeeding by gently rubbing a loofah sponge with as much pressure as you can tolerate.
- Religiously take the vitamins your doctor prescribed. They help nourish both mom and baby, keeping both strong and ready for birth.
More information about 25 Weeks Pregnant
At 25 weeks pregnant, your beloved baby weighs about 660 grams and measures about 34.6 cm. Yes, they grow a lot every day, gaining about 30 to 50 grams a day! Now fully formed, they already play, put their fingers in their mouth, and it’s truly magical to see them on the ultrasound screen.
Now you can feel them moving more often1. Their fetal development is so obvious, even for dad! You can play by talking to them right up against the belly. If they’re awake, they will likely hear dad’s voice and become familiar with it even while still in the womb.
What develops in the baby this week
And the famous question: 25 weeks is how many months? At 25 weeks pregnant you are in the fourth week of your sixth month of pregnancy. The main developmental milestone at this stage is brain development2, which is preparing every day for its proper function after birth.
Their hair is already starting to grow and already has the color and shade they will be born with. The contours of their face are now clear, which can be seen well through ultrasound. Yes, you can check with an ultrasound if the baby has hair or not! You just need a doctor with a trained eye and a bit of goodwill, of course. Nose, outline of the mouth, ears, everything is well defined and your baby already has the features they’ll have at birth in a few weeks.
Baby’s movements
The baby keeps moving constantly, even though the space in the uterus is getting tighter. You can see them on ultrasound touching their own face, sucking their fingers and even holding their little feet. This is part of their motor development and self-discovery. They swallow amniotic fluid and you may spot this liquid accumulating in their small bladder.
At this stage, it is also possible to stimulate their movements and taste in sounds. Many babies respond by kicking or moving when hearing certain voices or recognizing a sound. They may even show discomfort at a particular song, for example. Of course, it’s impossible to tell whether the baby likes or dislikes a sound, but we know they respond promptly to these stimuli.
How mom is feeling
Sixth month! Now at 25 weeks, more than halfway through pregnancy, mom really feels pregnant! Although ultrasounds and tests show the pregnancy, at this stage the once-small belly is much bigger and very noticeable. Are your breasts already producing colostrum? That’s very normal! It means your body is getting ready to breastfeed your greatest treasure. Be very careful with stretch marks, they are dreaded by many women.
Mom’s care
It’s not unusual for stretch marks to appear, but slathering cream on your belly is the best way to prevent these unwanted guests. Apply lots of cream to the breasts as well, but avoid the nipples.
Take the vitamins your OB-GYN prescribed religiously. They help nourish both mom and baby, keeping both strong and ready for birth. Multivitamins don’t make you gain weight, they just supplement if any vitamin is missing in the body3.
It’s the perfect time for a glucose tolerance test to check on your blood sugar. By the way, have you set up the baby’s room yet? Time to get started, friend! Some stores take ages to deliver furniture, so hurry up.
External factors
At 25 weeks, this is a comfortable phase for pregnant women, as nausea is no longer a bother, the belly isn’t too heavy yet, and your energy is at 100%. Your only concern at the moment is with your clothes, which due to the size of your belly already don’t fit, especially pants, tops and dresses. This makes you have to update some items in your wardrobe (what a nice “obligation,” right?). Choose looser-fitting pieces, like tunics and more comfortable dresses that you can use even after childbirth. Remember your breasts will get bigger after birth, ok? Get more beautiful every day because this is your special moment!!
