How Mom Is Feeling…

After all, no one wants their child to come out looking like a strawberry or cookies-and-cream ice cream lol. It’s also a good time to think about the baby shower and maternity souvenirs. You may have already picked the name, so talk to your baby a lot—because they can hear every word and love listening to your voices. Fetal development is amazing at this stage!
At 28 weeks it’s very common for your OB/GYN to request some blood tests to monitor your health, especially the test for gestational diabetes. Women with RH negative blood type will soon need to get the injection to ensure protection at birth.
Mom’s Discomforts
At this stage, it’s pretty common for your breasts to start leaking colostrum, but this isn’t a rule. Most women only produce colostrum after delivery and if it’s cesarean section it may take a little longer than with natural birth. Heartburn, indigestion, and constipation can be quite uncomfortable now, due to the gastrointestinal system working more slowly than normal.
Eating slowly without drinking too much liquid at once and chewing food properly may help ease these discomforts. Plus, selecting what you put on your plate carefully. Cold foods and drinks also help soothe the burning and irritation of heartburn characteristic of week 28. In the worst cases, consult your doctor for a safe antacid for pregnant women.
External Factors…
Oh, how you must miss sleeping through the night without interruptions! As your belly grows, the lack of comfortable sleeping positions can get in the way and affect your sleep quality. At 28 weeks, try to get comfortable with the help of pillows or find the comfiest position you can and try to relax. It’s also worth asking your partner for a nice massage—you might feel a little more comfortable afterwards.
