Taking a pregnancy test is something that, in itself, already causes a lot of anxiety. And you know that doubt that arises when we take a pharmacy test and aren’t sure if the pregnancy test was positive or not? Many readers still have these questions! So I created this post as a gallery of positive and negative pharmacy test results. As more pregnancy test photos come in, I’ll keep posting and updating this article.
So, add this post to your favorites! I think it can help a lot of people, because when I was trying to conceive, I loved comparing my thousands of tests with the ones I found online. Faint lines, strong lines, before a missed period, after, evaporation lines, and even false positives. That’s why all types can be part of this gallery.
The first three pregnancy tests below are mine. They were in another post. The first and second are evaporation line tests, the third was the positive test from Melissa’s pregnancy. The others belong to readers who kindly shared their tests. Likewise, you can also do this if you want to help other women looking for their positive pregnancy test result.
False Positive Pregnancy Test
In the photo below you can see a pregnancy test that turned out to be a false positive. The reading was correct, but the result wasn’t!
Positive Pregnancy Test with Faint Line
In the images below, the lines are quite faint, but strong enough to confirm a pregnancy. In these cases, it’s always good for the woman to repeat the test a few times to be sure of the result.
Gravtest Positive Pregnancy Test with Strong Line
Unlike the previous cases, in the image below you can clearly see the second line, well-defined and strong. Definitely an indicator of pregnancy!

Positive Confirme Pen Pregnancy Test
Below we see another example of a positive pregnancy test, this one from Confirme Pen. No matter the color, pink or blue, if it comes into contact with urine and a second line appears, it is probably a pregnancy. Of course, there are also false negatives. That’s why it is important for the person to take the test more than once.
Evaporation Line on Gravtest Click Pregnancy Test
Gravtest Click is another option for home pregnancy tests. The picture below shows the evaporation line, a streak that can look like a positive result. The second line may appear, but it doesn’t necessarily mean a pregnancy. It can just indicate the test wasn’t performed correctly. That’s why it is always important to follow the manufacturer’s instructions for use.
Confirme Pen Negative Pregnancy Test
In the image below, the negative result is very clear, since we see only one line.
Positive Pregnancy Test with Missed Period
The accuracy of tests can vary greatly, that is, the minimum amount of beta HCG each pregnancy test can detect in a woman’s urine1. In general, they detect HCG from 25mUI. However, nowadays, there are tests that can detect as little as 10mUI.
Positive Pregnancy Test with 2 Days Delay
The best way to ensure an accurate test result is knowing your own body and how it works. If your period is regular and you notice it’s late, it might be a good time to take a test. The amount of HCG usually increases as days go by, so the longer the delay, the greater the chance of a reliable result.
Positive Pregnancy Test with 3 Days Delay
With three days of missed period, it’s already possible to detect the presence of beta HCG in the woman’s body. Below is an example of a positive pregnancy test taken exactly three days after the period was due.
Positive Pregnancy Test with 10 Days Missed Period
With ten days of delay, the result is almost foolproof! The image below is an example. Remember, after a positive pregnancy test, it’s necessary to take a blood test, which is much more thorough than the urine test. Medical follow-up and other prenatal tests are also essential to ensure the health of both the baby and the mother.
Readers’ Questions
Is it possible for a pregnancy test to be a false positive?
Even though manufacturers claim this can’t happen, it is possible2. Some brands, in particular, tend to have more result errors than others. A false positive can happen due to a manufacturing error or even because of the materials used. Therefore, always use a trusted brand and if needed, repeat the test to be sure!
How do pregnancy tests work?
Pharmacy pregnancy tests work by detecting the presence of beta HCG in a woman’s urine. This hormone, called human chorionic gonadotropin, is also known as the pregnancy hormone, since it is produced only during pregnancy or, very rarely, by tumors. When it comes into contact with urine, the strip or pen reacts, indicating whether or not HCG is present. Although blood tests are more accurate, pharmacy pregnancy test results are very reliable.
What color is a positive pregnancy test?
Each test may have a different color, whether of the strip, pen, or the result line. But what really matters when interpreting the result is the number of lines that appear, which indicate whether it is positive or negative. If there are two lines, regardless of intensity, color, or type, there is HCG, so it is positive.
When should I take a pregnancy test?
The pregnancy test should be taken after a missed period. However, some more sensitive tests can detect the presence of HCG hormone even before a missed period. But to get a more accurate result, wait at least 3 to 5 days after a missed period before you take the test3.
Important Tip: The test should be read within 10 minutes at most after completion. After this period, changes may occur. If in doubt, discard and take a new test. Check out also: Pharmacy Pregnancy Test: Now Is It Positive Or Not?
