Hello moms and future moms! Today I’ve decided to share my thoughts on a question that came up at my house when a pregnant friend came over to visit. The topic actually sparked a lively discussion, haha, and believe it or not, it was about baby strollers. See, as a third-time mom I’ve tried out a few models and brands, both at home and outdoors for walks and such. The truth is: you really need to think carefully about what you want a baby stroller for, whether you’ll use it mostly for walks outside—like really walking with it on the sidewalk, strolls in the park, using it indoors as a crib, or just for trips to the mall. Whew, got confused? So did I! Hehe

So let’s see, with Joana I was given a beautiful Burigotto stroller, and it was good because we only had her, and so we didn’t use it much for outings, it was more for use inside the house so she could take a nap, or when she got a little older, to eat meals, etc. But taking it out for walks was a nightmare, way too big, too bulky, and it took up the whole trunk of the car, in short, it was awkward! It was the Burigotto Class 1 stroller, not that it’s bad, but in terms of transportation, it’s a big hassle. With Dudu it was pretty similar, but this time a bit worse, because I had to walk outside, take and pick up Joana from school with Dudu in the stroller, and honestly, I often preferred to carry the baby in my arms because it was such a hassle to dismantle and drag around an impractical stroller down the stairs and put it together while having two small kids.

Finally, when I was pregnant with Melissa, I have to admit I learned my lesson: I bought a smaller, lighter stroller and an infant car seat that was (still is, she loves the car seat to this day and uses it as an armchair to watch TV!) perfect for when she was a newborn. My opinion about baby strollers is that it should be more practical, and that’s where choosing what kind of use you want comes in. If you’re going to use it outdoors a lot and are mostly going to be alone with your child, I highly recommend the umbrella type strollers that can be closed with just one hand. Several brands offer these, but I know that the Burigotto X-treme 5023 is perfect.

For indoor use as a crib alternative, the ideal is a stroller-crib, it reclines and is really comfortable for the baby like the AT2 by Burigotto. Now, the Burigotto AT2 stroller is very sturdy, it’s good, but it’s also a bulky one, not easy to carry, takes up a lot of space, and folding it is a real hassle.

If you like jogging with a stroller in the park, there are proper strollers with tougher wheels and a front suspension system that absorbs the impact. A stroller-and-car-seat kit is also a great idea and helps a lot. Do your research on more brands, since there are some excellent strollers on the market like Galzerano, Cosco, Infanti, Peg Pérego, and others, with good models at affordable prices. Ah, and I can’t forget to mention that aluminum strollers are much lighter!

Choose your baby stroller carefully to avoid headaches like I had; check the safety features like brakes, wheels, and reclining options to avoid accidents, and always look for a product with the INMETRO seal.

Just a tip! Kisses
