My name is Juliana Figueiredo Lima Alves, I am 36 years old and the mother of two beautiful boys, Yago Lima Alves, who is 17, and Ygor Lima Alves, who is 13. Well, my first pregnancy was a bit difficult at first, because I found out I was already four months pregnant and I was 18 years old. It was quite complicated, because during that time I got sick and took a lot of medication that didn’t make my illness go away.
I took many injections, but when I first heard my baby’s heartbeat, I fell in love instantly. It was beautiful to hear that sound and soon came the worry of knowing if my baby was okay. When I had my first ultrasound, and they told me “your baby is great,” I felt immense joy and could finally breathe easy. The pregnancy progressed and the whole family loved having the first grandchild, the first nephew, and our first child.
At nine months, I started to feel labor pains and went to have my baby. I had to have a cesarean section because my son waited a little too long to be born. But it was a very smooth delivery and when the doctor showed me my baby’s face, Yago’s, tears instantly came to my eyes from so much joy at seeing my beautiful, healthy son, weighing 4,260 grams and measuring 52 cm. I had decided not to have any more children, but that wasn’t God’s plan! Almost five years later, I found out I was pregnant again, and at first, I couldn’t accept it—it was hard for me to come to terms with another pregnancy.
I was going through very tough times due to unemployment, but as time went by, the love just grew. When I went for an ultrasound, the doctor told me it was a girl, but I wanted another boy and wasn’t satisfied with the diagnosis and kept thinking and talking to God, “I want another boy.”
My husband bought everything pink, so I asked for another ultrasound right before giving birth and found out it was another boy. I was so happy that on the way home I called and said, you’ll have to change everything because Ygor is on the way!! When I went to see the doctor, she gave me an injection to try to keep the pregnancy a little longer, but that sped up the baby’s heart, so I had to have an emergency cesarean. I got very nervous because I was scared, but the Lord was with me and my baby was born beautiful and healthy, a child weighing 4,230 grams and measuring 54 cm.
And the funniest thing is, for someone who at first didn’t want to, I ended up breastfeeding Ygor for almost a year, and we became even closer. Today, I am a very happy mother because I have two beautiful children who love me very much, and I love them very much. I am so proud of my children! Today, Yago is already in college, he’s a great son, and Ygor works with me and is also a wonderful son. I’m proud to be the mother of two beautiful boys.
