I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but all diaper brands have something that sets them apart: the size! I’ve always liked to try different disposable diapers to compare quality and size. I use several diapers at the same time, both for absorption, price, and the way they fit the body.a0

When it comes to size, there are many differences among brands, such as Turma da Mônica and Pom Pom, for example. I think they are very different in size. Pom Pom is the largest among all the brands I’ve used. The Turma da Mônica diaper is the smallest among similar newborn size products and also the one I like most to use in the maternity ward.

As for Pampers, I prefer it for the days after birth because its elastic provides more comfort. The newborn Pampers diaper is the softest of all and comes in a size somewhere between Turma da Mônica and the other brands, which are Looney Toons, Personal, and Natural Baby. The P size from all brands seemed very different to me. The M size is more similar and the Extra G size does not match any of the standards. The Pom Pom diaper fits very well on larger children. I’ve even tried the EXXG size, which fits my 6-year-old son!a0

The downside of a diaper that’s too big is leaking. So whenever you buy Pom Pom, it’s best to choose a smaller size than you use from other brands. The diaper is really very good, both in quality and size. They’re ideal for mothers of chubbier children or for children who need to wear diapers longer than expected.

I also like the Protect Care diapers from Pampers, they are very good for every occasion and they’ve never let me down when I needed them. Today Melissa wears size EG from Mônica or Pampers and size G from Pom Pom. I use EG from Sapeka, and Baby Roger is much smaller compared to the other diapers. Even EG doesn’t fit anymore; it’s too tight and leaks pee. It’s not that Baby Roger is bad, but it does fall short in terms of size. The manufacturer’s sizing is just too small.

Melissa’s Progression in Sizes:

  • 0 to 35 days: newborn diaper
  • 35 days to 3 months: size P diaper
  • 3 to 9 months: size M diaper
  • 9 months to 1.6 years: size G diaper
  • 1.6 years until now: size EG diaper (or G from Pom Pom)

The ideal way to choose a diaper brand is to follow the weight instructions on the package. They can help you pick the perfect size1.
