Today, looking back and seeing everything I went through learning to be a mother, I feel so nostalgic for that time and laugh a lot. There were so many embarrassing moments, so many sleepless nights, but you know, it was all worth it!
It was worth it for my growth and learning, and it still is so worth it! Being a first-time mom was the most memorable period of my life and I thank God for being able to have all the experiences I had—if not, I wouldn’t be the mother I am today.
Of course, as time goes by, things get easier and the experience gained makes a big difference when taking care of a baby. But since no one is born knowing, I learned to be a mother the hard way, by instinct and determination. I had help and guidance from two very important and essential people at that moment.
Mom and Mother-in-law
Anyone who has an experienced mother and mother-in-law, as a first-time mom you’ll never be without support. They rescued me several times, and to this day I ask for advice about certain things. Of course, the voice of experience always speaks louder, especially when it comes to motherhood.
There were so many situations… But I chose a few to share in the video. Here, I can tell you about one time when we went to get a vaccine and I was completely lost! First-time mom and the first vaccine? That’s a combination sure to make you cry, and you have to find the courage from somewhere! It was early May and it was cold.
Joana was bundled up in so many clothes and I was just feeling so sorry for her! So many shawls, so many blankets, and I was lacking the courage. As soon as I walked in and sat down on the chair inside the clinic, the nurse who was going to give Joana her shot realized I was a first-time mom and gave me a break.
I had help and still, I managed to lose her birth certificate in the middle of the chaos, among so many new emotions. It hurts so much to see your baby cry! I don’t even need to say that I cried along with her when it was time for the DTP shot, right? But what was the most embarrassing situation I went through as a first-time mom? What about the funniest thing that happened during that time? Check out the video on embarrassing moments, challenges, and joys of a first-time mom.

But you know, if I could choose, I’d go through everything all over again! If I knew everything I know today, I wouldn’t be the same mom I was, so I would choose to go through it all again just to have stories like these to tell! So, are you also a first-time mom? How about sending me your funny or touching story? Feel free!
