Another testimony from a future mom who, for a long time, had fear and let’s say, resistance to becoming a mother—sometimes out of fear of pregnancy, fear of labor pain, fear of simply not being able to take care of a baby, fear of not getting her pre-pregnancy body back… there are many reasons behind these thoughts. But with much love and care, she became convinced that having this gift is the best thing we can have in life. Just so you know, she used a pseudonym to remain anonymous. Send in your story too! Being a mother,

Wow, I don’t even know how to tell you this, but the phrase “being a mother” used to terrify me! Since my teenage years I’d watch my friends getting pregnant, dropping out of school, stopping going to parties, and even having trouble getting into relationships again. They would always tell me that children tie you down, children get in the way, children take away a woman’s freedom among other things that only made me stop and think… “Wow, is being a mother really that complicated?”

However, everything changed when I met my husband. He helped me see that becoming a mother without planning is what really turns a woman’s life upside down. He showed me that following steps like dating, engagement, buying your own house, the couple’s first car, and marriage would provide all the emotional and financial stability a couple needs before getting pregnant.

Back when we were just dating and I’d be late taking my birth control pill, I’d get neurotic! I’d run to the pharmacy and take the “bomb” of the morning-after pill. Wow, you have no idea how anxious I’d get! I’d only calm down when my period arrived. And today, I am the happiest person in the world because God gave me the best and greatest gift anyone could receive—a child!

When you find the right person, being a mother is wonderful! I learned that a child doesn’t tie you down, doesn’t get in the way—you just need to know the right moment for your heart to live outside your body, because truly, having a child is like having your heart living outside your own body and this feeling is unique and indescribable. Today, I can’t imagine my life without this blessed gift inside me, and I can’t wait to meet them and hold them in my arms in a few months. Being a mother is the deepest and happiest experience a woman can have.

Author’s Note: Thank you dear friend “Fernanda”, I loved your story and I’m sure it will inspire women who, like you, can consider this step with a little more affection in their hearts, as it is such a rewarding moment in a person’s life.
