Ladies, I’m here to talk about a project I participated in with great dedication and love. The HCG program collects raw material for the industrialization of this hormone, which is so precious for the fertility process of so many women. I had already heard about it before I got pregnant and what motivated me to make the donations was having closely followed a dear friend on her journey to motherhood and in vitro fertilization, during which she needed this hormone in medication form.
What is the HCG Program About?
I already mentioned the HCG program in a previous article. Its function, purpose, and how this hormone is produced. It is simply a hormone secreted when a woman becomes pregnant and is also responsible for the detection of pregnancy1. Every new life process needs a specific hormone, and HCG helps maintain the pregnancy. In the initial stage, the levels of this hormone increase and, after a period, stabilize. In some cases, it even drops a little. This hormone is the raw material for the well-known Ovidrel and Choragon, and is also present in other medications used to help with fertility. In some cases, it helps the egg to leave the follicle.
And how do you obtain this raw material? There’s no way to do it in a laboratory. So here’s my main point. If you are less than 9 weeks pregnant, you can donate HCG! How? By collecting urine in your daily routine! It’s very simple, easy, and painless. A gesture of love for others, because thinking that other women might benefit from my gesture and become mothers was what motivated me to donate. This video isn’t mine – I wish I had thought of doing something like this at the time. Nevertheless, it serves as encouragement.
At the beginning of my pregnancy, I got in touch with the HCG Project and, four days later, they visited me so I could sign a commitment agreement about the truthfulness of my pregnancy. After that, I received four containers with liquid inside to store my urine for one week each, and the collections were done at home and weekly. It’s important to remember that the project only collects urine from the initial period of pregnancy, when there is much more HCG hormone accumulated. The collection ends when you reach 18 weeks of pregnancy. As a way to thank you for your kindness, the pregnant woman receives a gift for the baby, a bag, and some layette items. This was the kit Melissa received from the program.
Update 2022: The HCG project ended in 2019. So you can’t donate your urine nowadays. We found no similar project, which I think is a shame. So many women want to donate and share a bit of their happiness. Anyway, I sincerely hope they will bring back this beautiful initiative to help others.
