Throughout a woman’s life, millions of exams and procedures are needed, especially for those who are trying to get pregnant and find it difficult to achieve a positive result. However, when it comes to men, there is a great resistance to seeking specialists and taking tests, always with the same excuses—discomfort or embarrassment. But for men who avoid these procedures, a solution has arrived: the home sperm test! After a couple has tried to conceive naturally for a year, fertility specialists will request evaluation exams, starting with the woman. Once female factors are ruled out, it’s the man’s turn to contribute and seek information about the couple’s difficulty. Performing the sperm analysis1 is seen by most men as a true taboo or, perhaps out of prejudice, they try to “avoid” responsibility by putting all the blame on the woman.
The Problem May Be Male
Even if they try to avoid guilt, there are many cases of couples who can’t conceive due to male fertility problems2. Research on fertility shows that they account for up to 40% of cases. Even when the procedure is explained, along with the total privacy for sample collection, some men simply choose to avoid responsibility and delay the couple’s dream even more. To make matters worse, often the lack of health insurance can make it even harder to get the necessary tests done. That’s why a true ally has been developed for hopeful couples and reluctant husbands: the home sperm test is a completely innovative way to test sperm quality and determine whether there is an issue—best of all, without leaving home.
What Is the Purpose of the Test?
The home sperm test evaluates sperm concentration and indicates whether there are more than 15 million sperm in the collected sample. With this result, it’s possible to determine if everything is okay or if a more detailed evaluation is needed. That’s why it’s a great choice for husbands who claim there’s no problem and want to avoid having to undergo a sperm analysis in a lab. If the result is negative and he dreams of becoming a father, there’s no way to avoid seeking medical help. Low sperm count is one of the main reasons couples struggle to conceive; secondly, there is low motility, where sperm are “weaker” and have poor movement.
How Does the Home Sperm Test Work?
The home sperm test is quick, reliable, and provides an accurate result in the comfort of your home, without exposing the man in labs, which is the main source of male resistance. Just follow the recommendations to get an exact result and wait for the indicated time3. Until recently, the convenience of home fertility tests for men was only found outside Brazil at hefty prices. But now the innovation has arrived in Brazil and can easily be found in some pharmacies and especially on authorized resale websites. The Confirme male fertility test is the fastest and most accessible method for men who are unsure about their fertility. The home sperm test should be performed at least 48 hours after the last ejaculation and up to 7 days. The kit contains all the materials needed to collect the sample, run the test, and read the result.
How to Do the Home Sperm Test?
The sample can be collected manually (masturbation) or after intercourse using a condom. Semen collected in the condom must be transferred to the collection cup and left to rest for 20 minutes before doing the test. After waiting the indicated period, use the syringe provided to collect the exact amount that should be transferred to a dilution vial. The vial should be closed and shaken until mixed. Let the vial rest for 2 minutes and in the meantime prepare the test device. Two drops of semen should be placed on the circular test mark and in 5 to 10 minutes your result will appear clearly and objectively.
IMPORTANT: If the test result is negative, it is extremely important for the man to seek a specialist. Additional and more detailed exams will be requested to assess the case and the appropriate treatment will be indicated.
If the result is positive, it means that the quantity of sperm in the collected sample is within what is considered “normal,” and the problem does not lie with the sperm’s quality or condition. But when the result is negative, the number of sperm is below the expected level and in that case, it will be necessary to seek a specialist. This is the convenience of the home sperm test: performing the test without having to wait for a medical appointment and then a lab procedure. If we can simplify the process, why complicate it? The test does not serve the same role as a full sperm analysis, but it does indicate if there is a problem so the man can seek medical help or simply rule out the need.
