History

Clínica Mater Prime was born from Dr. Rodrigo da Rosa Filho’s passion for medicine and, in particular, for following the growth of new life inside the mother’s womb. Its beginning, in 2012, was humble, with just a small clinic. Three years later, in 2015, Dr. Rodrigo turned to social media so that knowledge about human reproduction could reach more people. As a result, the clinic also grew, undergoing its first expansion.

From that moment on, Mater Prime saw exponential growth. In 2016, Dr. Juliana Hatty joined the team and, in 2019, another 5 specialists in human reproduction began to collaborate with the group. Over 10 years, the clinic grew from a small office to a large 2,000 m² complex, with its own laboratory to offer modern techniques and a multidisciplinary team.

About the medical staff

In addition to being the founder, Dr. Rodrigo da Rosa Filho is also the technical director of the clinic. Graduated from Escola Paulista de Medicina – Unifesp, he also completed dual residencies in Gynecology and Obstetrics and in Human Reproduction. The other members of the medical staff have similar backgrounds, with degrees from universities such as UNIFESP and USP. The clinic has a multidisciplinary team that also includes psychologists, acupuncturists, and a nutritionist.

About costs and treatments

Mater Prime believes that getting pregnant should be accessible. Therefore, it offers a program for low-income patients: the Acesso Program. The clinic also has complete facilities for various exams and procedures, reducing part of the costs, which can arise due to so many tests performed in different places.

It is notoriously difficult to standardize the costs of a fertility treatment, since each patient has their own history and challenges. Even so, Mater Prime commits to explaining every detail of the treatment, as well as its cost at each stage.

Objectives

  • Humanized, welcoming, and ethical care, valuing kindness toward its patients.
  • Seeing infertility from a broad perspective, supporting patients in other areas such as emotional and nutritional, through integrative medicine.
  • Providing the most modern available options, both in surgical techniques and treatments as well as exams.
  • Transparency, supplying information about every step of a treatment and why each decision is made.
  • Ensuring the comfort of its patients at every stage, with a cozy environment and psychological support for those who need it.
  • Accessible fertility treatments, offering special payment conditions and options for low-income patients.
  • Providing treatment that does everything possible to increase the chances of pregnancy, without sacrificing safety.

Differentials

Laboratory

Clínica Mater Prime is supported by its own laboratory, Mater Lab. Founded by senior doctors at Mater Prime, Mater Lab is a modern and welcoming laboratory. The lab’s facilities are entirely focused on assisted reproduction, offering patients high-quality exams in a practical and uncomplicated way.

Social Project

Dr. Rodrigo da Rosa, founder and technical director of Mater Prime, says his motto is “populate the Earth.” For this reason, one of the clinic’s values is that fertility treatments should be accessible to those who need them. That is why the clinic has developed the Acesso Program. All the clinic’s physicians serve this program, offering discounts on medications and medical fees for fertility treatments. To join the Acesso Program, proof of low income is required.

The “Fertilizando Sonhos” (Fertilizing Dreams) program, led by specialists Drs. Juliana Barrera, Heloisa Marçon, and Stephanie Majer, also seeks to provide access to fertility treatments. In this case, proof of income is not required. The program also offers discounts on medications, professional fees and laboratory use. It is important to note that in both projects, medications and anesthetist fees are not included. The programs also do not cover surgeries.

Website Quality

Mater Prime provides a wide variety of information about fertility on its website. The site features a blog, videos and informative articles, questions and answers with Dr. Rodrigo da Rosa, YouTube and Instagram channels, as well as e-books available for download. On the Mater Prime website, you can learn about all stages and processes of fertility treatment, from the basics of human reproduction to how each type of treatment is chosen.

Multidisciplinarity

Mater Prime understands that undergoing fertility treatment is not easy. The clinic states that one of its pillars is supporting its patients, and this includes caring for each case beyond the direct causes of infertility. That is why the clinic also offers support from psychologists, nutritionists, and even acupuncture.

Fertilization specialist shares what it was like to treat his own wife
“On July 7th, psychiatrist Jairo Bouer hosted gynecologist and human reproduction specialist Rodrigo Rosa, director of Clínica Mater Prime in São Paulo, for a live stream. The main theme was the experience Rosa went through in recent months, being both the doctor and the patient at the same time. That’s because the specialist carried out the fertilization treatment for his own wife. And the positive result did not come on the first attempt, but on the third. Rosa says that after all this, he understands even more the patients who go through the same situation.”

Egg freezing: the ‘maternity insurance’ market
“Egg freezing is mainly sought by single women who plan to get pregnant in the future and want to ensure high-quality cells for when that moment arrives. This phenomenon is not yet measured by Anvisa, but clinics report a surge in the number of people opting for this route over the past two years.”
“Gynecologist, obstetrician, and founder of Clínica Mater Prime in São Paulo, Dr. Rodrigo Rosa, reports a 50% increase in egg freezing cycles from 2020 to 2021. At the beginning of this year, the clinic invested R$15 million in a new laboratory, anticipating growing demand.”
