I love, I love watching birth videos, and the ones that catch my attention the most are those of natural births. Nature designed women so that they can give birth in a magical way. I think all females have this gift… Moving away a bit from what is more conventional, cesarean section and vaginal delivery, let’s talk about this type of birth that was so common before the “cesarean” era and is now gaining strength again. Natural birth is the type of delivery that happens without any kind of intervention. Most of the time, it is performed by a doula, a midwife, or even unassisted. Home natural births are, for the most part, carried out without any pain medication or drugs to help with dilation, and it requires careful planning and structure so that any complications can be dealt with and won’t disrupt the process in any way. Of course, natural birth is also a humanized birth, but it has its particularities.
WARNING: REAL FOOTAGE OF A HOME NATURAL BIRTH, STRONG BUT INCREDIBLE SCENES!
I admire the strength of these women who have a natural birth without the intervention that has become so common these days. We get used to having births where the doctors take care of the patient and, in some not-so-rare cases, the way the birth happens can be a bit aggressive. At this beautiful moment, we want to hold the baby, cuddle, rock, and breastfeed, and in most births today, the baby is separated from the mother immediately. As happened to me every time, they took my children away and only brought them back hours later. Of course, this is the standard procedure in several maternity hospitals and there is nothing to be done. Some even accept a birth plan like in the United States, but these are rare! There, the pregnant woman can outline and specify what may or may not happen during delivery, so it is very common for babies to be born without drug intervention. Natural birth can happen in whatever way the woman feels best: there are births in dim light (dark), water births, home births assisted only by the parents, and many other varied experiences.
Some say you must have a proper structure for these kinds of births, such as hiring an ambulance for emergencies, and sometimes even having doctors present but not participating, only for extreme cases. Many low-risk pregnant women are followed by doulas who prepare the mom as best as possible for an active labor with great results and absolutely beautiful births! If your wish is to have a natural or home natural birth, talk to your doctor. If your health and the baby’s health are both 100%, the chances are very high! Remember that a cord wrapped around the neck, and various other obstacles that are often (almost always) brought up for the mother, do not prevent the baby from being born naturally. It is worth talking to a professional specialized in humanized deliveries to get all your questions answered and feel as safe and calm as possible. That’s exactly what natural birth is about. Some doctors want to impose the easiest way for them, but these women know what they want, and this is the way they chose to “give birth” to the greatest love of their lives.
See you next time!
